20 FEBRUARY 17 - KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BOOKING A BOUNCY CASTLE?
Are you looking to book a Bouncy Castle for you Child's birthday or an event?
If you are, then do you really know what to look for? Obviously the design of the Bouncy Castle is very important to you and your guests, but what else should you be looking for?
Did you know all inflatables need to be tested annually to make sure they comply to the European standard? Inflatables need to be tested annually by a competent person. Most commonly used are RPII or ADIPS inspectors. Most RPII inspectors can then issue PIPA tags and Certificates if required or their own certificates, either way the compliance test is the same test to EN14960:2013. Every Bouncy Castle operator is expected to have these tests done annually on all inflatable equipment and SHOULD have the certificates to show you when you ask for them. It is your right and responsibility to check for these certificates when booking.
You should also be checking the Bouncy Castle provider has sufficient insurance, However their insurance would be void without the annual tests mentioned above as insurance companies required the equipment to be tested at all times.
All electrical items, such as extension leads, blowers, etc, should also have a current PAT test in place again in accordance with HSE regulations. You should be checking to ensure the operator takes all means to prevent electric shock, Such as using RCD's on all electrical set ups.
Can the Bouncy Castle operator produce a Risk Assessment or Method Statement? Many Venues requests these from the operator before set up of the equipment, so maybe worth asking if they can supply these.
It's your right to ask!
When booking an inflatable it's your right to ask for all of the items mentioned above, So ASK! Any professional Bouncy Castle hirer should have no issues with providing you with the certificates and paperwork mentioned should you require it.
